So....I have been slowly(oh so slowly) reading through the book Humility by C. J. Mahaney. The forward by is written by Josh Harris(author of I kissed dating goodbye) and he makes a poignant point(yeah for alliteration). He mentions how humility is a characteristic we all desire....or better yet...that we desire others to see us as having. He notes we have all learned to act humble....downcast eyes, shrugging shoulders, uttering phrases like "oh anyone could do it." All the while we are congratulating ourselves for appearing to be so humble.
Mahaney starts developing the idea of humility with a simple statement: "humility is honestly assessing ourselves in light of God's holiness and our sinfulness."
YEAH-that hits it straight home doesn't it. The book is an excellent read(at least what i have read so far) and i encourage everyone to pick it up.
